Blog Entry # 8 - Vanessa Bruno's Video LookBook

Summer frocks, sun, ocean, fun! Who is ready for the Summer? Vanessa Bruno's video Look Book definitely get you into the mood for it. With a summer around the corner we are in anticipation to update our summer wardrobe. In the featured video the designer immerses us into dreamlike surroundings that summer usually associated with. Lou Doillon ( the daughter of fashion icon Jane Birkin) and Jessica Joffe communicate french unconventional chic.

Particularly the last scene amuses me when models play Holi (annual festival of colors.) Inspired by an Indian celebration revelers throw bright powders and colored waters resulting in naturally tie-dyed garments. My friends as well has a chance to participate in this "live it in the moment" celebration:)

Blog Entry # 7 - Vince Trunk Show

With a shift of many venues into cyberspace trunk shows are no strangers to that either . Before trunk shows represented exclusive events with designer appearances talking about inspiration and key pieces of upcoming collection while sipping champagne. Nowadays, many retailers are holding trunk shows on the Internet allowing broader audience to be part of these events. Convenience of the virtual shows allows for higher sales at full retail prices but what's  missed is the feel of a real-life trunk show.
Please find below Vince Fall 2008 Trunk show for Saks.com. Although the collection is few years old the key items still can be incorporated into today's casual wear wardrobe.

Blog Entry # 6 - Oscar de la Renta

Oscar de la Renta's Spring 2012 runway show owns a special place in my heart for it's one of my first experiences in the Fashion world. Yes ... this show is not about elaborate settings as some of the Paris week designers sparkle with, but simply about presenting beautiful clothes. Overlooking the whole process of creation makes one realize how much hard work goes into that and then presented just in few minutes. These few minutes are full of beauty, fashion and special message designer wanted to share with us. The show is full of feminine styles that Oscar de la Renta is famous for. Hopefully you'll enjoy the triumph of femininity.

Entry # 5 - "Spring Awekening"

The best way for spring awakening from hibernation is by adding a splash of bubblegum-pink, radiant yellow, cobalt-blue, tangerine hues into ensemble. Of course, it takes innovative approach blending these colors, as well self-confidence to pull it off. Light-taupe and apricot-hued colors are options for less adventurous types. These colors are perfect for color-blocking pieces and would not fail to impress.

Forecasting from Fashion Snoops

I find more similarities of scope colors with these species, rather than "urban sport" though.

Fashionistas already have adopted this luxe way to brighten their looks. Jump into a wagon of experimentation...

Entry # 4 - Body Heat

Indeed, language can be very descriptive if the writer is gifted with this skill. Good writer can create vivid images in reader's mind taking him on a journey. Most of the time my insufficient vocabulary makes me frustrated to not being able to convey my thoughts in a clear manner, but it doesn't stop me from admiring people who posses this talent.  Cathy Horyn is one of them. "A single word often betrays a great design." (Jean Baptiste Racine.) Cathy Horyn wrote concisely for a collection that was "said concisely" with only 36 looks presented at Bottega Veneta, but enough to admire it.

Bottega Veneta: Body Heat

MILAN — The 36 looks that Tomas Maier showed on Saturday at Bottega Veneta seemed to fly past, and then a burst of applause.
He had a lot to say, but he said it concisely, with spare, elegant dresses and coats in black, cobalt or maroon wool.

Coverage from in and around the Milan shows.
The fabrics had a matte, compacted look, but it was the fit and proportion that really stood out. The clothes had a normal sense of grace.
Like Raf Simons at Jil Sander, Mr. Maier knows how to elevate knitwear, pairing a ribbed black cashmere sweater with cropped trousers for a surprisingly polished look that was still relaxed. This exceptional show included burnt velvet dresses in a three-dimensional blur of colors, dresses and skirts with soft peplums, and velvet-paneled evening dresses.

Entry # 3 - Plush Love

With an influx of fashionistas from all over the World for the NY Fashion Week it was obvious what key trend they were channeling - "Shaggy" outerwear. Would you blame them with all that weather outside?! All sorts of coats were there to express one's individuality: patterned, various colors, real fur, fake fur etc. According to Tim Bess, fashion trend analyst for the Doneger Group, "shaggy pieces"among the top looks for fall '12. Why should we wait, as its already have been vastly adopted by fashion conscious folks. Enjoy my reportage...

Key Item Spring 2013 - double pocket camp shirt

Agreed, maybe it's not the most adventurous trend of all as one can suggest! However, double pocket camp shirt is on the top of my shopping list. Among the first prototypes that worth mentioning was famous shot of Verushka in Safari suit by YSL (1968) that inspire this style. Wearing this shirt,  one  can be a part of a set of "Out to Africa" exploring African safari or  city dweller of New York who'll   find this attire useful to survive in the sizzling heat of "concrete jungle" especially if it's made from natural fibers. This piece can be worn for any occasion if you style it respectively.

Many designers were embarking on an urban safari with earth tones for a Spring 2012 that will gain momentum even more. Camp shirt stood the test of time and keep coming back in new variations. Michael Kors's Spring 2012 collection was channeling "Afriluxe trend"  where in this style couldn't fit any better.

Fashionistas have adapted this garment on the streets playing with colors and styling of this piece. Stay tuned for more ...

With an increased popularity of all kinds of blogs I feel like I've been lagging behind. And, with a little research a have realized that creativity and passion for expressing it is at the base of successful blog. Every town has a group of self-proclaimed fashionistas who know the upcoming trends and new ways of wearing them. Trendspotting is their main speciality!
Among my favorites, even though I didn't have time to develop sincere attachment for them, are Olivia Pallermo's blog, Fashion Toast and On the Runway with a unifying passion for Fashion.

Spinach and Yoga

As you grow older besides just paying attention to how you look, you start to pay attention to how you feel also. My next favorite blog has nothing to do with fashion! Spinach and Yoga (http://spinachandyoga.com/category/healthy-eating/) created by my friend Nadya is for people who are exploring healthy ways of eating. Check it out for yourself too.

Of course, blogs are individualistic and depend on personal preferences. For a first time, I will see for myself what it's all about ... so be kind to me!
